Michael L. Louie
Mr. Louie's practice is focused primarily on the procurement, licensing, and enforcement of both patents and trademarks with an emphasis on mechanical, electro-mechanical, and basic chemical and electronic arts.
His current practice further includes employee and client counseling on intellectual property matters; infringement and validity opinions; and due diligence reviews. Representative technologies handled by Mr. Louie in patent matters include medical devices, mechanical equipment; computer software; semiconductor technologies and networking technologies.
Prior to joining Beyer Law Group LLP, Mr. Louie was in-house patent counsel for Heartport, Inc. and practiced intellectual property law with the law firm of Flehr, Hohbach, Test, Albritton & Herbert. Before entering law school, Mr. Louie worked at the Space and Communications Group of Hughes Aircraft Company as a mechanical engineer. There, he gained extensive experience in the mass property and vibration fields.
While at Santa Clara University, he was a member of the Editor Board of the "Santa Clara Computer and High Technology Law Journal". He is a member of the California State Bar, and is registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
