David P. Olynick, Ph.D.
Dr. Olynick has over ten years of patent prosecution experience. His practice focuses on preparing and prosecuting patent applications with an emphasis Consumer Electronics and associated Software, Secure Computing including financial transactions, Electro-mechanical Devices, Smart Cards, RFID, Wireless Communications, Sensors, Game Software, Touch Screen Interfaces, 3-D graphics, and Fluid Physics. He has extensive experience related to patent reexamination and reissue, due diligence for patent purchasing and licensing, patent portfolio development and litigation support. He has prepared and prosecuted 4 patents that have been designated patent of the year for a corporate client ($25,000 inventor award for each patent). Prior to entering the patent profession, Dr. Olynick worked as a research scientist at NASA Ames research center in the Space Technology Division from 1993-1999. At NASA, he was the aero-thermal lead for the design of the Stardust Sample Return Capsule thermal protection system, a principal investigator on a Mars flight instrumentation project, and a project manager and technical lead for the design of web-based software tools for space transportation vehicle design. He is an associate fellow of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) and received a certificate of Technical Merit from AIAA in 1998 for best thermo-physics technical paper.
